Welcome back to Term 4
A warm welcome back to everyone for our final term. I hope you all had a safe and restful holiday with your families and loved ones. It’s hard to believe that Christmas will soon be upon us, we are looking forward to what is always a busy but rewarding end to the year, filled with many wonderful events.
Staffing
We’re thrilled to announce that Jarrad has won a permanent position at Valley View Secondary School teaching a special education class. Jarrad has been an SSO at Eden Hills Primary School since 2019 and has provided wonderful educational support and care for many students during his time. Jarrad will begin his new appointment as of week 3 this term. We congratulate Jarrad and wish him all the best with the next exciting stage of his career.
In other staffing news, Lachie will be continuing in the role of Physical Education now on both Mondays and Tuesdays and Leanne will be taking Room 7 on these days. We also welcome back Jade to Room 4 on Fridays.
Governing Council Traffic
The Governing Council would like to share a friendly reminder that there is a specified NO STANDING zone directly downhill from the kiss and drop zone. This area has been policed by council recently and fines were issued. Please be aware that stopping (and waiting) on the road prior to the kiss and drop zone may incur a fine. Refer to the applicable road rules if you are unsure of the correct procedure.
As a community we need to work together to keep the kiss and drop zone moving safely and efficiently. Please do not park and get out of your car in the kiss and drop area between 8:30-9am and 3-3:30pm under any circumstances.
We also ask you to be mindful that any issues, feedback or concerns about the Kiss and Drop system are to be fed back to Governing Council. dl.0124.govcouncil@schools.sa.edu.au.
Please do not send these to, or contact school leadership / the front office staff directly as it is outside their area of responsibility and governance. We understand there are high levels of frustration with the current system and will continue to communicate with the local council to endeavour to find more efficient solutions.
Thank you,
The Governing Council
Learning Street Art Gallery
In Term 3 our learning focused on animals that live in the ocean. Each week we created a different art work and we displayed these in our classrooms and in the Learning Street. On the last Wednesday of term, we invited classes to visit in the afternoon. Our students worked in groups of 3 and acted as tour guides for the older students (each group had one older student). They shared the artworks and information that they had learnt over the term. We also opened it up for families to visit before school on Wednesday and Thursday and after school on Wednesday.

On Friday 30 September, Eden Hills held their annual Sports Day at the Bowker Street Oval in North Brighton. The day started off with our fantastic house captains leading team chants. Next, students competed in a variety of track and field events around the oval demonstrating great sportsmanship towards each other. The day concluded with Championship Sprints and the whole school relay.
Congratulations to Karinya for winning Sports Day for 2022.

Class Placement
We are currently in the process of preparing for 2023. We are now accepting requests from parents/caregivers regarding their child’s class placement for 2023 until Sunday 13 November (end of Week 4).
Requests will be considered and where possible acted upon. However, with only a finite number of class options and creating classes that are balanced academically, socially and behaviourally, the good of the whole group will take priority over the individual. Therefore, requests are not guaranteed.
We assume that parents and caregivers who do not submit a request are comfortable with class teachers making informed decisions about their child’s placement in 2023.
When setting classes, we consider student identified friendships, teacher input and parent/caregiver requests. Furthermore, it is important to understand that teachers have not been allocated year levels for 2023 at this stage, nor have the configuration of classes been finalised and the current structure is very likely to change for 2023.
All requests must be submitted via a class request form which can be found at
https://edenhillsps.schoolzineplus.com/form/30
A separate form will need to be completed for each child.
Crazy Camel Fundraiser
The students have been very busy finishing their designs for the crazy Camel Fundraiser. There are several different products to select from that will feature your child’s artwork.
Orders close Wednesday 2 November so be quick and be ready for Christmas!
