Thank You to our SSO's
At this time of the year, we take time to acknowledge the outstanding effort and work undertaken by our School Service Officers (SSOs) all of whom do an amazing job, supporting the administration and smooth operation of our school, as well as providing excellent support for our students and their learning.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team of fantastic SSO's at Eden Hills Primary School.

Farewells
We sadly said goodbye to two of our wonderful staff recently. Emily Hutchinson-Turner has taken on a new role at Blackwood High School and Dianne Gloyn has retired as our OSHC Director. We thank both for their wonderful contributions to Eden Hills Primary School and wish them all the best with the next chapter of their lives.

Kind regards,
Andrew Dowling
Book Week at EHPS
A reminder that we are celebrating Book Week in Week 7. There will be special activities and competitions in the Resource Centre during the week as well as a performance by Perform! Education on Friday.
Wednesday 7 September is our dress up day. Come to school dressed as a book character, share your costumes with your buddy class and enjoy a special assembly.

Dogs on School Grounds
The Governing Council would like to share a friendly reminder that dogs are not permitted on school grounds at any time. There has been an increasing number of unleashed dogs seen at the school particularly on weekends which goes against the The Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 Part 5 45A (2) in situ. This legislation states no dogs or cats are permitted on school grounds at any time unless they are given approval by the principal or are trained assistance animals. There has been an increase in dog poo on the oval which poses concern for children’s safety. If you use the school to exercise your pets after hours we ask that you please choose an alternate location and if you know of others using the school for this purpose please let them know of this reminder.
We also ask you to be mindful when waiting at the gate at drop off and pick up with your leashed dog to give some space to children going in/out the gate. Please stand back a little and be mindful of children who are more fearful of dogs and are trying to access cars in the kiss and drop zone.
Thank you,
The Governing Council
100 Days of School
Every school morning the three Junior Primary classes place a number in their display charts, they started this on the very first day of school. This term they reached 100 days of school and to celebrate the occasion they dressed up as though they were 100! They spent the day exploring 100 with their friends.

Art Exhibition
Estelle was part of the Onkaparinga Youth SALA Festival Art Exhibition. Estelle entered a picture on canvas with texta and another that she had done when she was four. She was interviewed as one of the guest artists.

SAPSASA Basketball
On Wednesday 10 September, 18 students travelled to Wayville Sports Centre to compete in the Year 5/6 SAPSASA Basketball carnival. The day was action packed with both teams playing 4 games throughout the competition. The boys team had a cracking start defeating their first opponent by a large margin. Their next few games tested their resilience where the boys worked hard to stay positive and build their communication skills through some narrow losses. The girls worked extremely well as a team showcasing some impressive passing skills. Similarly, they showed and developed their resilience skills through a string of close matches. It was fantastic to watch the students cheer each other on from the sidelines. Congratulations to all students who participated, and a special thank you to all parents who came out to coach/manage teams and support from the sidelines.

Water Safety Lessons
Rooms 3 – 10 will be participating in water safety lessons next week. Please remember to pack bathers, a cap, goggles, thongs, drink bottle, a towel, a plastic bag for the wet clothes and warm clothes to put on afterwards. Please make sure all belongings are clearly labelled.
Governing Council
The Governing Council would like to know your preferred time to have future parent and family catch ups. If you could spare a minute (literally!) we would be most appreciative. Thank you

School Closure
Reminder that the School Closure is Monday 5 September
Enrolments 2023
We are currently looking at class structure for 2023. If you know of anyone who is planning on enrolling in Eden Hills Primary for 2023 and has not filled in an enrolment form, please encourage them to do so ASAP. Alternatively, if you know you will not be returning to Eden Hills Primary School next year, can you also let the Office know ASAP.
Thank you for helping us to plan and prepare for our 2023 school community.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club has been very popular this year with many of our students turning up for toast, fruit and Milo on a Wednesday morning. We remain grateful to Kickstart for Kids for their ongoing donations, and for providing us with a volunteer helper most weeks.
We would love to accept any donations of gluten free bread, Milo, Vegemite, jam or honey as we often run out of these items.
Breakfast Club for our students is on Wednesday mornings 8:30 - 8:50am in Room 2.
Thanks
Perdita & Pamela
Hats
The Departmental sun protection policy must be in effect for school terms 1, 3 and 4 and whenever UV radiation levels reach 3 or above. All children are required to wear hats that protect their face, neck and ears, i.e. bucket, legionnaire or broad brimmed. Baseball or peak caps are NOT considered a suitable alternative.
We sell bucket hats in the office for $8. The broad brimmed and legionnaire hats can be purchased form department stores or specialist uniform shops.
After School Sports
We have several sports offered in our EHPS After School Sports Program, it is a great introduction into team sports for our students.
This program is completely reliant on parent volunteers to run each code of sport. Next year we will have quite a few of our families graduating from primary school, which means we will need coordinators and coaches for all sports offered: Basketball, Cricket, Netball, Pedal Prix, Soccer & Volleyball.
If your child is wanting to participate in After School Sport next year and you are available and willing to volunteer, please speak to our current coaches or coordinators. Now would be a great time to shadow them and familiarise yourself with what is involved.
Without your support, wonderful programs like this will cease to exist.
Material and Service Fees
Material and Service Fees are now overdue.
These fees need to be paid as soon as possible.
Payments can be made via QKR, Eftpos and credit card over the phone.
If you need to make arrangement for instalments please contact Heather in the Front Office.
Parking Around School Zones
Mitcham Council continually monitors schools to enforce parking zones and restrictions to ensure the safety of students. By parking appropriately when you drop your children off to school, you can help to ensure there is no danger to students and avoid traffic congestion around schools.
Please be aware that any breaches of the Australian Road Rules 1999 observed by Community Safety Officers may result in the issue of an expiation notice.
Please click the link below to the ‘Children Schools & Traffic’ brochure which has information to inform drivers about public safety and provide for student safety around roadways at schools’ drop off and pick up times.
