Term 2

We come to the end of another busy term and I would like to thank our students, staff and community for all their valuable contributions to our school. We have observed a similar pattern to last term with the second half bringing higher rates of staff and student absenteeism due to COVID and a variety of illnesses. I would especially like to recognize our amazing team of staff who have worked tirelessly through a range of complex challenges to provide the best possible continuity and learning for our students. I wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday and look forward to seeing everyone next term when we return on Tuesday, 26 July.

RAA Street Smart Primary lessons

In week 10 a trained educator from RAA will be visiting our school to deliver interactive presentations which focus on pedestrian, passenger, and wheeled safety.

This free program provides:

• a trained and qualified educator who works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to deliver a 45-minute road-safety lesson
• an in-class program
• age-appropriate and tailored lessons to suit our students and school
• advice to the school on delivering appropriate follow-up programs
• information for parents and caregivers so they can continue teaching road-safety at home.

Volunteers

To all our wonderful volunteers. As of 1 June 2022, there has been an important update to the Statutes Amendment Act 2021. The Act introduces important reforms regarding the legal obligations as a volunteer in the Department for Education. Please view a summary of these obligations in the link below.

OSHC Director retirement announcement

It is with sadness but warm wishes that we are announcing that Dianne Gloyn will be retiring as our long standing OSHC Director next term. Dianne had led our OSHC service since 2010 and worked incredibly hard to develop the service into a warm and nurturing environment that provides high quality care for our students. Dianne’s friendly, diligent and approachable style have been appreciated by everyone and she will be deeply missed by our community. In recognition of Dianne’s wonderful leadership of the OSHC service we will be holding a farewell event next term, the details of which will be provided once finalized. Congratulations and farewell to Dianne, we wish her all the best with the next exciting stage of her life.

‘Like Me, Like You’ Performance

"Like Me, Like You' was about how we can be in harmony no matter how we look" - Abby and Henry, Rm 7

"I liked that they interacted with the crowd and asked questions, it was kind of like a comedy" - Nivyn, Rm 7

Knockout Soccer

The Eden Hills Knockout Soccer team went up against Nativity and Emmaus at Aberfoyle Park. Our skills were as good as the other teams but unfortunately, we could not get the ball in the back of the net, to give us the result we wanted. All players put in superstar efforts. Goals were scored by Felix and Josh and awesome leadership shown from Captains, Ollie and Felix.

Reports

A written report will be sent home in the last week of this term. This is a mid year report so the information included will be a summary of the evidence of learning collected for each child. The grades will be for the work completed up to this point of the year and reflect the level the child is working at towards the final outcome of the curriculum area.

World Vision PJ Day

Lost Property

Lost property is collected, and every effort is made to return items to their owners. It is helpful when items are clearly named. Don’t forget to name clothing which may be removed (e.g., jumpers, track pants, hats) as well as drink bottles and lunch boxes.

We have a mountain of unnamed items. A big thank you to Martine for all her help with sorting and stacking our lost items. This week, there is a table outside the Office for you to check through the unnamed collection. All items remaining at the end of term will be donated or disposed of.

The EHPS Governing Council would like to invite parents and caregivers to an informal gathering at the Belair Hotel on Wednesday 3 August, between 6.30-8.30pm. We especially invite new families to the school, to come and meet other parents, put names to familiar faces and can provide feedback to Governing Council members.
