Term 3
It is hard to believe that we are already at the halfway mark of Term 3! As we reach the mid-term mark, it's the perfect time to celebrate our students’ accomplishments and share a glimpse of the wonderful experiences happening at Eden Hills.
At this time of the year, we take time to acknowledge the outstanding effort and work undertaken by our School Service Officers (SSOs) all of whom do an amazing job, supporting the administration and smooth operation of our school, as well as providing excellent support for our students and their learning.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team of fantastic SSOs at Eden Hills Primary School.

100 Days of School
When we had been at school for 100 days, we had a celebration. Lots of us dressed as grannies and grandpas. Some people did not dress up which was lucky because then we had some young people to help us around. We did some fun things. We had a tea party. We had a lollipop and we had to record how many licks it took to eat it. It was a lot more than 100. We played a game called “Squares” with 100 dots and you had to make boxes. We had a big list for if we could write 100 words.

KO Soccer
On Friday 30 June our Knockout Soccer team travelled to Thiele Primary School to play against Thiele and St Patrick’s Schools. Game one was a very tight competition with the score remaining at 0-0 until the last few minutes. Unfortunately, at the very last minute, Thiele scored two quick goals to win 2-0. Thank you very much to Clyde for coaching the boys on the day. Congratulations must go to Hugh, Tenzin, Adam, Wilfred, Max, Liam, Alfie & Stefanos for maintaining a great attitude all day.
KO Netball - Round 2
After dominating round one early in term 2, our boys went confidently into round two of the knockout netball competition in week 2 of this term. Due to the omission of Adam (for State Ice Hockey representation), Carter became a late inclusion. The team, which also consisted of Hugh, Tenzin, Owen, Cisco, Leon, Isaac & Felix, fought hard all day. We played against Coromandel, Craigburn and Stella Maris. It was a hot day (for August) and we were down to only 7 players, after Tenzin copped a soccer ball to the face before school had even started. The boys ended up with 2 losses and a draw. I could not be prouder of the incredible attitude our boys played with and their never give up mindset. It was an absolute pleasure to coach them and have them represent our school!
KO Basketball
On Friday 11 August our team played 6 games against multiple Southern region schools at Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium. Our team consisted of Felix, Isaac, Hugh, Owen, Max, Tenzin and Tal. Nick was our coach. We convincingly won all of our games (no less than a 13 point win), which means we are through to the State Finals on Friday 15 September. Our team played so well together and it showed on the scoreboard.
Athletics
On 30 March our school participated in the District Athletics day at SANTOS Stadium. We had a lot of placings throughout the day and Eden Hills ended up coming 3rd out of 13 schools in the Southern Heights District!
Jessica and Felix have been selected in the District team to participate at the State Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 19 September. They are competing in the 10-year-old girls long jump plus the 100m relay and the 12-year-old high jump & long jump plus the 100m relay respectively. Well done Jessica and Felix, good luck!!
Girls District Soccer Selection
Congratulations to Pippa and Hannah for their selection in the District Girls Soccer team. They will be participating in the State Carnival at ServiceFM Stadium from 21 August to 23 August. An awesome effort girls!!
State Player Ice Hockey Selection
At the start of this term, I went to the Ice Hockey Nationals in Melbourne. I played for the South Australian under 13 team.
I had so much fun being with my friends and exploring Melbourne.
We played 6 games over 5 days. We got third in the competition, and we all got medals.

Premiers Be Active Challenge
Throughout weeks 1-4 of this term, students have been mindful of their physical activity during the week. They have recorded the days they have done 60mins or more of moderate physical activity. This might not only be organised sport, but also things like helping with housework or walking the dog. For year 2 – 6 students, their logs will be coming home for you to sign and return to school. Well done to everyone. Medals will be distributed later in the year.

All children are required to wear hats that protect their face, neck and ears, i.e. bucket, legionnaire or broad brimmed. Baseball or peak caps are NOT considered a suitable alternative.
We sell bucket hats in the office for $8. The broad brimmed and legionnaire hats can be purchased from department stores or specialist uniform shops.

Breakfast Club News
Many of our students enjoy Wednesday morning Breakfast Club, supported by Kickstart for Kids. The club provides a fun start to the day, offering toast, fruit, and Milo, along with a chance to catch up with friends before classes begin.
Kickstart for kids donates bread, milk, and margarine weekly, as well as a Wednesday volunteer. The organization supports disadvantaged South Australian school children through various programs and relies solely on sponsorships and community donations. As living costs rise, charitable donations are falling.
To ensure we are not taking resources from others who are doing it tough, our Breakfast Club now limits students to 2 pieces of toast and 1 Milo with a top-up. A piece of fruit is available for those that are still hungry.
We welcome parent donations of jam, honey, vegemite and gluten-free bread.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Volunteering At EHPS
Volunteers are an important and valuable part of our school community.
They fulfil many important roles such as listening to students read or accompanying classes on excursions. For excursions, classes need to fulfil the adult to student ratios to meet the requirements of the Department for Education risk assessments.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer there are regulations that the Department have put in place to keep our children, and you, safe. All volunteers need to complete the volunteer pack which you can access via the school website or the link below.
Positive Partnerships
Between 1 and 2 in every 100 Australians are diagnosed with autism. The below video by Positive Partnerships describes the developmental condition that affects how an individual learns, perceives and interacts with the world around them. The spectrum of characteristics that accompany autism, from communication differences and sensory sensitivities to distinctive ways of thinking and processing information means that no two individuals are the same. Throughout the video, personal stories and insights provide a comprehensive view of the multifaceted nature of autism.
